We use qualitative and quantitative methods in the various phases of product development to identify user needs and requirements. There is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” method for collecting requirements. Once we understand your goals in context, we define the questions and choose the appropriate methods to find actionable answers.

Methods to find relevant insights
Understand users
Qualitative data is our basis for a deeper understanding of user needs. Depending on the project goal and the framework conditions, we use different methods for data collection: interviews, surveys, contextual inquiry, focus groups, or diary studies. From this, we derive the requirements and define metrics for measuring the success of your project. We summarize our findings in clear artifacts such as personas and user journeys to make them accessible to the entire team.
Caution: Assumptions ahead!
We accept assumptions as valuable hypotheses to start a project – but we challenge and validate them continuously during the course of a project. We explore, measure and learn to provide the best possible experience
Look closely
We offer different kinds of UX testing that can take place at our in-house labs, remotely or in the field. We observe users with the current applications or prototypes of future systems. This way, we can identify strengths and weaknesses, measure relevant metrics and compare benchmark data to inform the next design iteration.
Expert knowledge in practice
Analytical usability inspections based on standardized procedures provide insights from a different angle. Heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs and synthetic user modeling identify experience obstacles, uncover learnability barriers and help predict performance metrics. Our findings are presented in a structured report that has proven clear and approachable.
Analytics
Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses of systematically collected usage data can complement a thorough analysis of actual usage behavior and allows for well-founded conclusions. We also perform log file or click analyses to identify recurrent errors or delays of usage.
